BOUESTI Secures NUC Approval for 33 Postgraduate Programmes

The Authorities of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), have announced the approval of 33 postgraduate programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC), effective from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The approval followed a successful resource verification exercise conducted by the National Universities Commission and was conveyed in a letter dated June 15, 2026 and signed by the NUC’s Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei.

The newly approved programmes span diverse disciplines across the humanities, social sciences, management sciences, education, natural sciences, environmental sciences, communication and technology, further reinforcing the University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and human capital development.

The approved programmes include Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Office and Information Management, Entrepreneurship, Architecture, Music, Theatre Arts, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Environmental Management, Microbiology, Industrial Chemistry, Plant Science and Biotechnology, Physics, Economics, Development Studies, Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, Political Science, International Relations and Food Science and Technology.

Also approved are postgraduate programmes in English Language Education, Educational Management, Test and Measurement, Guidance and Counselling, Social Studies Education, Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Physics Education, Mathematics Education, Integrated Science, Human Kinetics (Sports Management) and Health Education. In addition, the University secured approval for a Master of Public Administration (MPA) programme.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Andrew Babatunde Omojola, described the approval as a landmark achievement in the institution’s quest to become a leading centre for postgraduate education, research and innovation.
Prof. Omojola applauded the enviable feat, noting that it reflects the dedication, resilience and collective efforts of the University’s Management, staff and relevant stakeholders who worked tirelessly to ensure the successful outcome of the resource verification exercise.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the approval is a testament to the confidence reposed in the University by the National Universities Commission and an affirmation of BOUESTI’s readiness to provide quality postgraduate education that meets global standards.
He expressed appreciation to the Visitor to the University and Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Governing Council, Senate, staff and all stakeholders for their support and commitment to the growth and development of the institution.

Prof. Omojola assured prospective students and the general public that the University remains committed to delivering high-quality teaching, impactful research, and community service through its postgraduate programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor further stated that the commencement of the programmes in the 2026/2027 academic session would create new opportunities for advanced learning, capacity building and cutting-edge research, while contributing significantly to national development and addressing contemporary societal challenges.
