The Progressive Mandate Forum (PMF) has set a target of one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, urging its newly inaugurated local government chapters across Ondo State to intensify grassroots mobilisation and expand the membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The chairman of the Forum, Hon. Demola Ijabiyi, announced the target in an inaugural address delivered on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, to simultaneous inaugural meetings of the Forum’s local government chapters across the state.
Ijabiyi, who said the initiative was sponsored by BTO, explained that the Forum was established to unite political leaders and elders under a coordinated statewide structure capable of translating political support into votes.
He said the Forum’s immediate priority was to secure the re-election of President Tinubu and ensure victory for all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
According to him, the organisation would also remain active beyond the general elections, particularly in preparations for the 2028 governorship election in Ondo State.
He described PMF as a long-term political structure whose effectiveness would depend on unity, proper organisation, accountability and sustained engagement at the grassroots.
Addressing the leadership structure of the chapters, Ijabiyi said each local government chapter would operate under a presiding officer and secretary, supported by ward coordinators responsible for connecting the Forum with communities and coordinating mobilisation at the ward and polling-unit levels.
He noted that the presiding officers would coordinate chapter activities and implement decisions, while secretaries would maintain membership records, attendance registers and minutes of meetings.
The chairman also outlined the responsibilities of local government and ward overseers, who would supervise the activities of the chapters, monitor mobilisation plans, resolve disagreements and submit progress reports to the statewide leadership.
He stressed the need for effective coordination among the various levels of the organisation, adding that the overseers were expected to provide guidance and ensure accountability without undermining the responsibilities of chapter officers and ward coordinators.
On membership expansion, Ijabiyi urged the chapters to reach beyond existing APC members by engaging neighbours, friends, community associations and other interested residents.
He said prospective members should be welcomed, their concerns addressed and those willing to join the APC assisted through the party’s recognised membership channels.
The PMF chairman identified low voter turnout as a major challenge to elections in Ondo State, insisting that political support must be converted into actual votes.
He consequently directed each local government chapter to work towards achieving 80 per cent turnout among registered voters in its area, with mobilisation plans tailored to local voter statistics and polling-unit distribution.
To achieve the one-million-vote target, he called for the development of measurable strategies with specific ward and polling-unit targets, assigned responsibilities and regular assessments of progress.
He also urged the chapters to encourage eligible citizens to register as voters when registration becomes available, collect their Permanent Voter Cards and familiarise themselves with their designated polling locations.
Ijabiyi disclosed that subsequent ward and polling-unit meetings would hold at least twice monthly, with funding arrangements to be communicated through the Forum’s leadership.
He said the meetings must produce tangible results, including membership growth, voter education, effective mobilisation and regular reports on activities.
The chairman further announced that local government chapters would meet monthly, generally on the third Wednesday of each month, while members would be required to wear the Forum’s face caps at meetings as a symbol of their common identity.
Congratulating the chapters on the selection of their presiding officers, secretaries and ward coordinators ahead of the inaugural meetings, Ijabiyi urged them to proceed immediately with the preparation of their respective mobilisation plans.
He directed the local government overseers to ensure that reports of the inaugurations, including the names and contact details of the selected officers and ward coordinators, were submitted to the statewide leadership.
Ijabiyi commended BTO for sponsoring the initiative and urged members to work collectively towards establishing an effective political organisation across all local governments, wards and polling units in Ondo State.
