***Reaffirms Commitment to Raising Confident, Skilled and Future-ready Nigerian Girls.
Founder of the BEMORE Empowered Girls Foundation and Labour Party (LP) candidate for Owerri Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has reaffirmed her commitment to the empowerment and development of women and girls across Nigeria.
Anyanwu-Akeredolu stated this in her welcome address at the opening ceremony of the 2026 BEMORE Summer Bootcamp, tagged #BEMOREOYO2026, held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday.
Although she was not physically present at the ceremony due to her ongoing campaign activities in Owerri, Akeredolu said her absence had not diminished her commitment to the programme, assuring participants that she remained connected to the BEMORE vision.
She said the advancement of women and girls remained a key pillar of her political manifesto, stressing that the progress of any society depended significantly on how well it empowered its women and girls.
According to her, “A society that empowers its girls is investing in its future. A society that educates its women is strengthening its families and communities.”
Anyanwu-Akeredolu said her vision for the empowerment of women and girls was not restricted by geography or political ambition, noting that girls across Nigeria remained part of the larger BEMORE family.
“My vision has never been limited by geography. Whether you are from Imo, Oyo, Ondo, Lagos, Kano, Rivers, or any other part of Nigeria, you are all our girls,” she said.
She explained that the BEMORE initiative was established to do more than provide young girls with a holiday experience, but to deliberately equip them with knowledge, confidence, innovation and leadership skills.
According to her, the programme seeks to raise a generation of young women capable of becoming leaders, innovators, problem-solvers and agents of positive change in their communities and beyond.
The founder assured parents and guardians that the participants were in safe hands, noting that they were being cared for by experienced Matrons, Assistant Matrons, Resource Persons and the camp management team led by the Chief Matron, Mrs Kelechi Igboegwu.
She also commended the programme’s technical partners, Ashdam Solar and Matrix Technologies, for their continued support in exposing the girls to practical knowledge and opportunities in technology, renewable energy and innovation.
Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu appreciated the Nigeria American Football Association (NAFA)/BROWNS, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Foundation (OAF), Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu Foundation (BAAF), and Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) for supporting the BEMORE vision.
She urged the participants to maximise the opportunities provided by the bootcamp by learning with curiosity, asking questions, building meaningful friendships and stepping outside their comfort zones.
“My dear girls, you are all covered under our watch. You matter to us. Your safety matters. Your education matters. Your dreams matter. And your future matters,” she said.
Akeredolu further assured the girls that despite her ongoing campaign in Owerri, her heart remained connected to the broader mission of empowering women and girls across Nigeria.
“So, my dear BEMORE Girls, while ADA OWERE is busy campaigning in Owerri, never forget that you are still under my watch, my care and my vision for a better Nigeria,” she added.
She wished the participants a safe, impactful and transformative experience, formally welcoming them to the 2026 BEMORE Summer Bootcamp.
