The Nigerian Society of Engineers has conferred on Engr Taiwo Olalekan Somo Aina the prestigious Fellowship Award (FNSE), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to engineering practice and professional development in Nigeria.
Reacting to the honour, Engr. Somo-Aina expressed profound gratitude to God for the grace bestowed upon him and to the Society for finding him worthy of the fellowship. He described the recognition as a deeply humbling milestone in a professional journey spanning over 25 to 30 years.
According to him, the fellowship is a product of collective effort, mentorship, and unwavering support received from colleagues and stakeholders across the engineering ecosystem. He acknowledged that the suggestions, encouragement, and guidance he received over the years have left an indelible mark on his career and professional growth.
“I am fully convinced and persuaded that a feat like this would not have been possible without the noble roles and contributions of many resilient, highly resourceful, and dedicated engineers whom I am proud to belong with, both in the public and private sectors,” he said.
Engr. Somo-Aina further appreciated his co-directors, as well as his past and present colleagues in the industrial and civil service, for their support and collaboration over the years.
He also paid tribute to the entire workforce whose dedication, he noted, gave him the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the industry.
He concluded by saluting the courage, dedication, and hard work of engineers and professionals committed to advancing the state and the nation, while reaffirming his readiness to continue contributing his quota to engineering excellence and sustainable development.
The Fellowship of the Nigerian Society of Engineers is one of the highest professional honours in the engineering profession, reserved for engineers who have demonstrated exceptional competence, leadership, and service to the profession and society.
