The Akure West Local Council Development Authority (LCDA) has extended warm greetings to Christian faithful in Akure and its environs on the joyous occasion of this year’s Easter celebration.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Chairman, Hon. Adejuyigbe Sunday, the council emphasized the significance of Easter in the Christian faith, describing it as a sacred period commemorated globally to mark the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“Easter marks the conclusion of the Lenten season—a time of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection. It is a moment for Christians worldwide to glorify God and give thanks for the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who rose three days after His crucifixion and burial,” the statement read.
The council further noted that Easter symbolizes total victory over darkness and rekindles hope in eternal life, salvation, love, peace, forgiveness, restitution, and redemption. It called on individuals to let their daily lives reflect the virtues and values exemplified by Jesus Christ.
Under the leadership of Hon. Adejuyigbe, the LCDA urged citizens to celebrate moderately and extend love and care to the less privileged.
It also called on all stakeholders across the nation to remain strong, focused, and steadfast as we collectively work towards a better, prosperous, and glorious Nigeria.
“May the power of Christ’s resurrection, which Easter symbolizes, intervene in the affairs of our nation, our state, Akure West LCDA, and in our individual lives during this holy season and beyond,” the message concluded.
