NPC Begins Free E-Birth Certificate Registration, Issuance in Akure South LGA

***Iralepo of Isinkan Urges Residents’ Cooperation

The National Population Commission (NPC) in Conjunction with the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) is to conduct electronic birth certificates registration and issuance in Akure south local government of Ondo State.

The NPC Controller in Akure South local government, Mr Jubril Kehinde Onoda, disclosed this during an Advocacy campaign to the Iralepo of Isinkan, Oba Oluwagbemiga Ajimokunola Olofin-Adimula (Arulewolasi III) in his palace at Ita-owa in Isinkan.

Mr Onoda said the commission had trained officials to carry out the exercise in Akure south local government area.

He said the officials would visit all households in the three political wards in Isinkan community for the exercise.

While saying children between the ages of zero and five would be captured, the NPC Boss said the exercise is free of charge.

He implored traditional heads in Isinkan kingdom to assist in mobilizing their subjects for a smooth exercise, saying the exercise would kick off after the advocacy.

Responding, the Iralepo of Isinkan, Oba Oluwagbemiga Ajimokunola Olofin-Adimula acknowledged the importance of birth certificate as it tracks major milestones in a person’s life,

He said the certificate serves a statistical purpose and provides a proof of age against certain forms of abuse and exploitation.

Oba Olofin-Adimula encouraged officials of the commission not to leave out any household within his domain as they carry out the birth registration.

The Iralepo promised the cooperation of his residents and assured them of his assistance when necessary.
