Aug 24, 2023

The former Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development in Ondo State, Rasheed Badmus has shown interest in contesting the vacant Akoko North Federal Consistency seat, after resignation of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who is now the Minister of Interior.

Speaking from his country home in Afin-Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area of the State, Badmus, who also served the state as the Commissioner for Natural Resources from 2017 to 2019, said he has the experience to bring more development to the constituency and consolidate the good work done by the former representative.

The former Commissioner explained that, as a grassroots politician and former Commissioner in the state, he has the knowledge of challenges facing the people of Akoko North Federal Consistency and how to tackle them.

He stated that he is ready to serve the people and bring more development to the area, if given the chance to represent them.

“The former representative did well for Akoko North Federal Consistency, hence we need someone capable and experienced to take over from where he stopped.

“I believe that as a grassroots politician, who has served the state, first as Commissioner for Natural Resources between 2017 and 2019 and later as that of Physical Planning and Urban Development from 2019 to 2021, I have what it takes to represent our people at the House of Representatives and give them effective representation.

“Also, as a loyal party man, who served the All Progressives Congress (APC) in various capacities like the Director-General of the 2023 APC Presidential Campaign Council in
Akoko North-East and North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State, the Director of Mobilisation for Aketi Campaign Organisation in 2016, I have the connection with party men and the people to be a good representative. Our party won the elections during those periods.

“This is in addition to the fact that I was the Chairman of Chairmen of APC in Ondo State from 2014 to 2017 and the APC Chairman for Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State between 2014 and 2017. These will show clearly that I will not just be dependable, but the man to beat in the election, if given the ticket by our party”.

He added that, “having also excelled in my career as an accountant in various banks and my private businesses, I have the competence and capacity to give our people effective representation, if elected as a member of House of Representatives”.
