The Labour Party candidate for the House of Representatives, Owerri Federal Constituency, Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has hailed the emergence of Don Anele Munachimso Marvelous as the World’s Best Science Student at the International STEM Olympiad in Rome, Italy, describing the feat as a victory for Nigeria and a testament to the country’s immense human potential.
Don emerged overall best after competing against some of the brightest young science talents from over 150 countries, earning global recognition for his outstanding performance at the prestigious competition.
Reacting to the development in a statement, Anyanwu-Akeredolu said the achievement demonstrates that Nigerian youths can excel on the world stage when provided with quality education, mentorship and the right opportunities.
She described the victory as a powerful affirmation of the intellectual capacity of Nigerian children and called for greater investment in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education to unlock the nation’s vast human capital.
According to her, the accomplishment holds special significance because of her long-standing commitment to promoting STEM education through the BEMORE Empowered Girls Foundation, which has trained more than 2,000 girls in coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, digital literacy and other technology-driven skills.
She said the success of the young scientist reinforces her belief that sustained investment in education, innovation and youth development remains the surest path to national growth and global competitiveness.
The Labour Party candidate pledged that, if elected to represent the Owerri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, she would pursue legislative initiatives aimed at expanding access to quality STEM education, promoting youth innovation hubs across communities and strengthening policies that enhance human capital development.
