Owa-Ale: After 3months, Traditional rites of passage start in Ikare

The traditional rites for the passage of the late Owa-Ale of Ikare land, Oba. Samuel Kolapo Adegbite Adedoyin today commenced in the ancient town.

The residents of the ancient town, all clad in white attires, today trooped out as the community officially announced the demise of the foremost Monarch who joined his ancestors three months ago.

For the sake of conventional practice, the formal pronouncement for late traditional rulers take 3 months after their demise.

Oba Adedoyin, joined his ancestors on September 1, 2020 after a brief illness, while reigned for 48 years.

Speaking at the epoch making event, the newly installed Regent, Princess Aderinsola Olabisi Adedoyin, placated some of the bereaved indigenes, noting that Oba. Adedoyin reigns forever.

She underscored the importance of the official announcement, while noting that the established tradition must take its course.

“Kabiyesi is still alive, we shouldn’t mourn because Regent, Chiefs are still in place,” Regent Aderinsola said.

Corroborating the Regent, the Olona of Ikare, High Chief Okunade Rafiu, said the proclamation became imperative as umpteenth people never heard about the passage of the prominent monarch.

Okunade explained that the established traditions have not slided into oblivion, hence, all highlighted riduments must be followed.

Describing the late Owa-Ale iconic, the Olokoja of Okoja, High Chief Idowu Ogunyemi and the Asoju-Oba of Ikare land, Chief Olabisi Babajide, disclosed that his reign brought unprecedented development to the community, noting that his assiduous efforts made Ikare a FocalPoint for commercial activities.

However, traditional rites still continues till 12th of December where funeral service will held on behalf of the late Lawyer.

In a detailed program of event entitled: ‘Celebration of life of a Solomonic King’ drafted by the Owa- Ale Royal family has it that the traditional rites will commence 1st of December, initially with public pronouncement of the death of the monarch.

The rites continues till 7th of December at the Afin Adimula and its environs.

In the same vein, a commendation service to be anchored by African church Nigeria and oversea, at Bethel Cathedral, Lagos state on 7th of December.

The programme reads: 8th of December, 2020, Official commissioning of palace hall at Afin Owa Ale at 10:00am, while tributes hour commence 12:00pm

“Wednesday, 9th OF December: Recreational games competition at the palace of Owa-Ale. 10am-3pm. While artists night commences 6pm same venue”

“Thursday, 10th of December, Moot and Mock court proceedings at High Court of Justice, Jubilee road, Ikare. 10am. Also Service of Songs by 4pm at the Palace of Owa-Ale”

“Friday, 11th of December, Jumat service at A.U.D grammar School Mosque. Time: 12:30pm.

Also Christian wake keep at Afin Owa-Ale Ikare. Time: 4pm.

“Saturday, 12th of December, Church funeral service at Ebenezer Cathedral, Ikare Akoko. Time: 10am. Reception follows immediately at A.U.D grammar school, along Ado-Ekiti road, Okegbe quarters, Ikare Akoko.

However, hitherto, condolence messages from eminent personalities keep trooping in for Oba Adedoyin.
