Ondo NURTW Leadership Crisis not Politically Motivated – Factional Group

Mar 31, 2021

A faction of the National Road Transport Workers, NURTW, opposing to the former Chairman of Union, Comr. Adebo Jacob Idajo, has reacted to a rumour allegedly making the round that they are doing the bidding of the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

The group alleged that the rumour was orchestrated by the enstranged Chairman of the Union Comr. Adebo Idajo, who they claimed has been blackmailing them to be members of the PDP to parade them as bad eggs in the eyes of the Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu led Government.

This is contained in a statement made available to the press by the group on Tuesday, in Akure.

The group who described the allegation as a figment of the orchestrator’s imagination, said they are bonafide members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and even participated in the revalidation exercise of the Party.

Omoniyi Oni Eniba, one of the leaders of the group in his reaction said “One of the reasons the former Chairman, Idajo, has been victimising me is because I objected to his proposal that I should mobilize the State NURTW youths for the PDP before the Governor’s second term election. He’s the one that got involved in anti-party activities with the aim of playing the safe card between the APC and PDP.

“We are members of the APC and we actively participated with the Governor on his political hustings towards his re-election. We mobilised ourselves to every Local Government Areas he visited.”

Comr. Gbenga Ijalade, the deputy to Mr Idajo said that peace has returned to the NURTW since the Governor suspended the activities of the Union.

“There has never been any issue of riot anywhere in the State since the Chairman has been removed. It’s evident that the tree of unrest in the Union has rightfully been uprooted by Mr. Governor.” Ijalade said

Ijalade said normalcy has returned to the motor parks across the State and no one is living in fear of being attacked for no reason again. He declared that the group is in total support of Government’s decision to restore peace to the State.
