***Iralepo of Isinkan Leads Protest, Urges Ondo Govt to Wade in
Residents and chiefs of Isinkan in Akure South local government area of Ondo State led by their monarch, Oba Oluwagbemiga Ajimokunola Olofin Adimula (Arulewolasi III), the Iralepo of Isinkan kingdom today led a protest to the State Government to register their grievances over continuous installation of Olus by the Deji of Akure in Isinkan kingdom.
Akure and Isinkan are neighbours from time immemorial with undisputed boundaries.
Oba Olofin-Adimula who said he personally led the protest having previously sent letters to the state government through the office of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs noted that such acts of expanding beyond ones territory is a misdeed.
“Deji of Akure had installed no fewer than 16 minor chiefs on Isinkan land illegally.”
“He installed parallel Olus where I as a prescribed authority had installed.”
“The latest is his attempt to illegally create and install one Mr. Alaba Olasehinde as the Olu of Onipetesi-Isinkan and another one at Aponmu within the
territory and Prescribed Authority of the Iralepo of Isinkan”
His words: “We came here to physically register our grievances about the misdeed of the present Deji of Akure Kingdom. I call it misdeeds when you are trying to expand your territory beyond your God given boundary, it is a misdeed”.
“We want the state government to call him to order. He cannot rewrite the history of Isinkan peacefully. We will not allow him to rewrite the history of Isinkan peacefully”
“He must follow the dictates of his forefathers. By the tradition of our people, Akure and isinkan are not one”.
“I am not under his domain. Isinkan is a town on its own, Akure is a town on its own. What connects us is Akure district and local government. Traditionally and culturally, we are not the same. There is no way he can leave his domain and come to my territory and start installing Olus. It is an abberation that we ll not allow to stand”.
While calling on the state government to wade into the matter before it escalates into a communal crises, Oba Olofin-Adimula said Isinkan kingdom will no longer sit back and watch.
Responding, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Amidu Takuro urged members of Isinkan community to stay action and allow government to address the issue.
Others in attendance are: Olu Olumuyiwa Aguda, the Olu of Kajola lsinkan, Olu Ayodeji Fatoki, the Olu Aladodo lsinkan, Olu Oke- llero Itaoniyan- Isinkan, Olu Akinwumi Adekanbi-Obe and Isinkan chiefs led by the Olisa, High Chief Oluyi Kayode as well as women leaders in lsinkan, the Eyelobinrin of lsinkan.
