#EndSARS: Ondo Panel releases guidelines over 30 petitions

The Ondo State Judicial Panel Inquiry on Police Brutality and other matters has received thirty petitions from members of the public.

The chairman of the panel, Justice Adesola Sidiq disclosed this in Akure at the inaugural sitting of the panel.

Sidiq sought the full cooperation of petitioners in ensuring the success of the panel, noted that the panel would stick to its terms of reference

In an inaugural speech, the chairman of the Panel , Retired Justice Adésolá Sidiq gave an assurance that all parties would get justice.

Justice Sidiq disclosed that thirty petitions had been submitted but expressed optimism that in the course of sittings, more petitions would be received to accord everyone equal opportunity to attain justice .

The first case to be heard was adjourned till next week Tuesday while sittings of the Panel had been structured to take place every Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The inaugural sitting had in attendance among others, the Chairman, Ondo State bar Association, Mr Rotimi Olorunfemi and an observer Dr. Oluwaseyi Awodele both expressed confidence that the panel would address grievances and injuries occasioned by police excesses in the state as well as those grossly affected by the actions of hoodlums during the #Endsars protest

Earlier, in an address, secretary to the Panel, Mr Lanre Amuda said the nine man Panel was set up by governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu among other things to receive and investigate complaints of police brutality or related extra judicial killings by the police in Ondo State.

He appealed for decorum whenever the panel was in session while also emphasising that covid19 protocols would be strictly followed during the sittings.
