Anxiety has gripped thousands of candidates and their parents following the continued inaccessibility of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, at a critical stage of the ongoing admission exercise.
One of the affected candidates, Dayo Babalola, said he was worried about the situation, particularly as candidates are expected to access the platform to monitor and act on their admission status.
For parents such as Mrs Esther Uche, the development has also become a source of concern, with uncertainty growing among families whose children are expecting or have already been offered admission.
The affected candidates and their parents are particularly concerned about the possibility of missing important admission-related deadlines if the platform remains inaccessible.
CAPS is JAMB’s central platform for processing admissions into tertiary institutions and enables candidates to view admission offers and take related decisions, including accepting or rejecting offers.
The development has generated complaints from candidates and parents, with some reporting difficulties accessing the “Access My CAPS” section of the JAMB portal.
Responding to the concerns, JAMB confirmed that CAPS was temporarily unavailable due to technical challenges associated with its hosting arrangements.
The Board said it had commenced intensive engagement with the hosting organisation and was working to restore the platform to full functionality as quickly as possible.
JAMB acknowledged the importance of CAPS, particularly at this critical stage of the admission exercise, and expressed regret over the inconvenience the disruption may have caused candidates, institutions and other users.
The Board, however, did not give a specific timeline for the restoration of the platform, saying it would provide further updates as developments unfold.
Meanwhile, candidates such as Dayo Babalola and parents including Mrs Esther Uche are among those waiting anxiously for the restoration of the system, as the admission process continues nationwide.
For the affected families, the immediate demand is clear: that JAMB restore access to CAPS as quickly as possible and provide clear information on the situation to reassure candidates and parents.
