Sep 3, 2026

The BEMOREOYO2026 Summer Bootcamp entered its 11th day with participants receiving training in leadership, public speaking, artificial intelligence, career planning and vocational skills.

The bootcamp, which is focused on equipping girls with skills for personal development and future career opportunities, featured a combination of classroom sessions, practical exercises and physical activities.

The day began with Taekwondo drills and general physical exercise before the participants proceeded to their first major session on leadership and public speaking facilitated by Mrs Pamela.

During the session, the girls were introduced to the principles of effective leadership, public speaking and communication. They also participated in practical exercises designed to improve their confidence, clarity of expression and ability to engage an audience.

The participants later proceeded to Matrix Lab Tech for an ICT revision session facilitated by Michael Oyediran and Bodunrin Olalekan Caleb.

The session covered graphic design and coding, with the girls subjected to practical exercises and questions aimed at assessing their understanding of lessons taught during previous sessions.

The ICT training also featured an introduction to Artificial Intelligence, with Caleb explaining the different components and applications of AI.

He highlighted how AI-powered tools could be applied to everyday activities, including time management, reminders, organisation and learning, while encouraging the girls to explore technology as a tool for solving problems and improving productivity.

Another major component of the day was a career and personal development session facilitated by Precious Kevi of ASHDAM SOLAR.

The session, titled “Vision Board Planning,” encouraged the girls to identify their aspirations and develop a clearer picture of their desired careers and future lives.

The participants identified various career interests, including law, medicine, nursing, engineering, entrepreneurship, education, modelling and technology.

They subsequently created individual vision boards depicting their career and life aspirations.

The activity was designed to encourage the girls to set goals, visualise their future and develop a sense of direction as they prepare for life beyond the bootcamp.

The participants also took part in a practical renewable energy session, after which they posed for photographs with solar panels and batteries acquired through their training.

The evening session focused on vocational skills, with participants divided into make-up artistry and baking groups.

In the make-up class, some of the girls demonstrated skills acquired during an earlier training session, while the baking group, led by Mrs Adetunji, learnt how to prepare pepper chinchin and peanuts.

The practical session covered ingredients, measurements, frying techniques and packaging, with emphasis on the potential of the skills as sources of entrepreneurship and income.

The day’s activities ended with a music class facilitated by Mr Sam, who introduced the participants to basic concepts of music, rhythm and stage performance.

Organisers expressed appreciation to the matrons, medical team and facilitators for their contributions to the success of the bootcamp, particularly the Chief Matron, Mrs Kelechi Igboegwu, and the Resources Manager, Miss Nonye Okafor.

The BEMOREOYO2026 Summer Bootcamp is continuing with further training and activities as the programme moves towards its grand finale.
