The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State has unanimously adopted Chief Victor Olusegun Ategbole as its consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Akoko South East/South West Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was taken at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Owalagba Town Hall in Oka-Akoko, where party leaders and members from all 15 wards in the local government converged to deliberate on the party’s political direction.

The meeting, which recorded a large turnout, was attended by the local government leadership, including the executive chairman, secretary, councillors, supervisors, and special advisers.

Also present were members of the party’s local government executive led by Chairman, Hon. Sunday Agbede Aijulu, ward chairmen, women leaders, as well as party elders and other influential stakeholders.

A motion for Ategbole’s adoption was moved by Hon. Igbede Opeyemi and seconded by Hon. Felix Sunday Olasunkanmi. It was subsequently ratified through a voice vote, with participants expressing unanimous support and no recorded opposition.

Stakeholders at the meeting described Ategbole, the Bobagunwa of Oka Kingdom, as a grassroots politician with considerable experience and a track record in community development.

They cited his leadership qualities, accessibility, and philanthropic contributions as factors that set him apart for the role.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the party resolved to mobilise support across all wards to ensure Ategbole’s emergence at both the party primaries and the general election.

The stakeholders also called on the APC leadership at the state and national levels to respect the decision reached by the local chapter.

The meeting ended with prayers for the party, the candidate, and the peace and development of the constituency.
