Jul 26, 2026

The management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, has assured students that the ongoing industrial action by the institution’s academic staff will soon be resolved, following the Ondo State Government’s intervention.

The assurance came in response to a 72-hour ultimatum reportedly issued by the Students’ Union Government (SUG) to the state government, demanding an immediate resolution of the strike.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Sola Imoru, the university management described the ultimatum as unnecessary, noting that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa had already approved a special intervention fund to enable the institution meet its financial obligations.

According to the statement, the intervention fund is currently being processed, with payment procedures already underway.

The management disclosed that the development had been communicated to the leadership of the Students’ Union, urging students to remain calm and exercise patience while the payment process is concluded.

It also advised the Students’ Union leadership to seek clarification from the university authorities before making public statements on issues affecting the institution.

The management reiterated its commitment to dialogue, transparency, and constructive engagement with all stakeholders, stressing that these remain the most effective means of resolving issues within the university community.

The institution further reaffirmed its commitment to good governance and sustained engagement with staff, students, and other stakeholders as efforts continue to restore normal academic activities.
