EKSU Finance Professors Celebrate Obamuyi’s Emergence as AAUA VC

A delegation of senior academics from the Department of Finance, Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has congratulated the Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, on his appointment as the institution’s seventh substantive Vice Chancellor.

The delegation, led by the Head of the Department of Finance, EKSU, Prof. Bolanle Azeez, paid the congratulatory visit on July 31. It comprised five professors and a senior academic from the department where Prof. Obamuyi began his academic career.

The visitors described Obamuyi’s appointment as a landmark achievement for both the Department of Finance and Ekiti State University, noting that it was the first time a member of the department had risen to become a university vice chancellor.

Responding, Prof. Obamuyi expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a reflection of the enduring relationship he shares with his former colleagues.

He said the gesture would further strengthen the cordial relationship between Adekunle Ajasin University and Ekiti State University, while thanking the delegation for identifying with him at the beginning of his administration.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Prof. Azeez described the AAUA Vice Chancellor as an outstanding administrator and compassionate leader whose professionalism and commitment have positively impacted colleagues and students alike.

She said Prof. Obamuyi is widely respected for his punctuality, attention to detail, inclusive leadership style and genuine concern for the welfare of others, adding that his discipline and integrity have earned him admiration within the academic community.

Also speaking, Prof. Anthony Adaramola said Prof. Obamuyi distinguished himself as one of the best graduating students during the institution’s days as Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, before joining the Department of Finance as a Graduate Assistant and rising through the academic ranks to become a professor.

According to Adaramola, Obamuyi’s appointment is a source of pride to the department and reflects his years of academic excellence, diligence and exemplary leadership.

He added that the Vice Chancellor had mentored several academics who later attained the rank of professor, describing his contributions to scholarship and university development as invaluable.

Adaramola further said Obamuyi’s reputation for honesty, transparency and integrity has earned him widespread respect within and outside the academic community.

Other members of the delegation included Prof. Steven Adelusi, Prof. Lawrence Ajayi, Prof. Lukman Suleiman and Dr. Foluso Ajayi.
