The Labour Party (LP) candidate for the House of Representatives, Owerri Federal Constituency, Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has described the transformation of thousands of young Nigerian girls through the BEMORE Summer Bootcamp as the greatest birthday gift she could receive.
In a birthday reflection shared on Monday, the former First Lady of Ondo State said she was deeply touched after receiving a musical tribute from Paradise Nwozuzu, a participant in the 2025 edition of the BEMORE programme.
According to Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the song was far more than a birthday present; it was a powerful affirmation of the values and confidence the initiative has instilled in young girls across Nigeria.
She said hearing the young girl sing, “I wake up this morning, talked to myself and say I’m strong, I’m smart, I will find my way,” convinced her that the vision behind BEMORE had taken firm root.
The LP candidate noted that the lyrics celebrated the programme’s emphasis on STEM education, coding, renewable energy, engineering, agriculture, vocational skills, leadership and self-reliance, adding that they reflected the transformation that occurs when girls are given opportunities to discover and develop their potential.
Describing BEMORE as more than a holiday camp, Anyanwu-Akeredolu said it is a movement founded on the conviction that every girl matters, every girl can lead and every girl deserves the opportunity to become the best version of herself.
She maintained that the true measure of the initiative’s success lies not only in the number of girls trained but in the confidence they now possess, the dreams they pursue and their commitment to becoming leaders and agents of positive change in their communities.
Expressing gratitude as she marked another birthday, Anyanwu-Akeredolu thanked BEMORE Girls across Nigeria for embracing the values of excellence, resilience, leadership and service, saying their achievements have made every sacrifice worthwhile.
Founded by Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the BEMORE Summer Bootcamp is a girl-child empowerment initiative that equips secondary school girls with STEM knowledge, vocational and life skills, leadership training and mentorship aimed at preparing them for future opportunities and national development.
