Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of Service of the state, effective June 6, 2026.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.
Odusanya succeeds Mr. Bayo Philips, who retired from the state public service after attaining the statutory retirement age.
Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions to the growth and development of the state and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The governor also charged the newly appointed Head of Service to deploy his vast administrative experience towards advancing the objectives of the administration and strengthening the efficiency of the state public service.
Born on February 6, 1967, Chief Odusanya attended St. Peter’s Primary School, Ile-Oluji, and Gboluji Anglican Grammar School for his primary and secondary education.
He obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture degree from the then University of Ife, now the Obafemi Awolowo University, in 1989.
He later earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the same institution in 1992 and subsequently obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Ado-Ekiti in 2000.
Odusanya joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995 and has served in several ministries and government agencies over the past three decades.
He was appointed Permanent Secretary in 2019 and has since held key positions in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, and the Ministry of Transport. Until his latest appointment, he served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
He also currently serves as Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State.
A fellow of several professional bodies, Odusanya holds fellowships of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Local Government Administration of Nigeria.
He is married to Lady Oluwatoyin Odusanya, and the union is blessed with three children..
