Muslim youths under the aegis of the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) have thrown their weight behind the political aspiration of the Ondo State Coordinator of the council, Engineer Mohammed Ogunmola, with coordinated prayer sessions held across the state.
Engineer Ogunmola, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is seeking to represent Owo Constituency I in the Ondo State House of Assembly.
The prayer sessions, which took place simultaneously across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State on Sunday, were organised as a demonstration of solidarity and spiritual support for Ogunmola’s ambition. Participants described the move as both symbolic and strategic, underscoring the importance of faith and unity in the political process.
In Akure, the state capital, the session was led by the State Murshid of NACOMYO, Alhaji AbdulWasiu Yusuf, who presided over proceedings at the council’s secretariat.
Similar gatherings were reported in other local government chapters, reflecting what organisers called a “collective endorsement” of Ogunmola’s leadership credentials.
Speaking at the Akure event, Yusuf described Ogunmola as “a gift to the people of Owo,” expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver effective and people-oriented representation at the state legislature.
“We have worked closely with Engineer Ogunmola and we have no doubt in our minds about his competence and commitment,” he said. “As a leader, he has demonstrated strong administrative ability, focus and a results-driven approach. These are qualities needed to move Owo Constituency I forward.”
Yusuf further hinted at plans by the council to mobilise grassroots support for the APC aspirant ahead of the election.
“This is just the beginning. Beyond prayers, when the political process gathers momentum, we will engage the people of Owo and encourage them to support a candidate we believe has the capacity to serve them diligently,” he added.
Other Muslim youth leaders who spoke at the event echoed similar sentiments, highlighting Ogunmola’s track record in youth engagement, community development and organisational leadership within NACOMYO.
They expressed optimism that his candidacy would resonate with voters across Owo Constituency I, citing his accessibility, experience and perceived integrity as key advantages in the forthcoming election.
