The women wing of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT) in Akoko South East and South West local government areas held a special prayer session for Nigeria and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday.
The event, part of the group’s regular dialogue series titled “Ondo Women Meeting,” took place at the Oka-Akoko Town Hall in Akoko South West. Women from both local government areas and GMT leaders attended the programme, which focused on prayers for peace, safety, and security across the country, as well as support for President Tinubu’s transformative agenda amid ongoing national challenges.
Chief Imam of Oka-Akoko, Alhaji Mohammad Isa Abubakar, and Rev. Canon Daniel Opeyemi Aliu of St. James Anglican Church, Oka-Akoko, led prayers calling for an end to insecurity in the country. Both religious leaders also commended the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his continuous support for the President.
Speaking at the event, GMT State Director-General, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, emphasized the importance of prayer in supporting national leadership.
“We are here today to pray for the nation, for Mr. President, and for our state,” he said. “In the face of insecurity, especially in northern Nigeria, President Tinubu is doing everything possible to bring peace. Our role is to pray for him, for Nigeria, and for our leaders. We strongly believe that what God cannot do does not exist.”
Yusuf-Ogunleye also highlighted the contribution of the Minister of Interior, who sponsored the event and continues to support GMT’s efforts to mobilize grassroots support for the President.
“We decided to bring this prayer session to Akoko in the northern senatorial district. Another programme is planned in Akure in the central senatorial district on Saturday, and later in the southern district,” he added. “Prayers answer all things. We believe God will resolve the crises affecting our nation and touch the hearts of those opposing the President.”
Chief (Mrs.) Olamide Falana, Director of Women Affairs, praised the coming together of Akoko women in support of the country and its leadership.
“We have gathered to pray for the security of Nigeria, for President Tinubu’s success, for our governor, and for Minister Tunji-Ojo, who is a benevolent leader,” she said. “We believe that after this prayer, good things will happen, and Nigeria will be more secure.”
