Motorists and commuters plying the Ilesha–Akure–Owo expressway have been advised to prepare for a temporary closure of the highway at the Onyearugbulem/Shagari axis in Akure, Ondo State.
The State Ministry of Infrastructure, Lands and Housing announced that the closure will last for five days, beginning Sunday, October 5, 2025, through Friday, October 10, 2025, to allow for the casting and placement of pre-stressed beams on the ongoing flyover project at the interchange.
According to the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, adequate traffic diversion arrangements have been put in place to ease movement during the period. He urged road users to comply with directives from traffic officers and exercise patience while the work is being carried out.
“We regret any inconvenience caused by the closure and sincerely appreciate the cooperation of the public as we continue to improve our infrastructure. Our EASE is working,” the Commissioner assured.
The flyover at Onyearugbulem/Shagari junction is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to reduce gridlock and enhance road safety in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
