As part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, Founder of the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN), has announced the launch of the “Thriving Beyond Breast Cancer Series.”
The initiative aims to celebrate survivors, promote awareness, and encourage patients still undergoing treatment. Survivors are invited to share their experiences under the theme “Thriving Beyond Breast Cancer: (Number of Years) and Still Counting.”
Participants are expected to submit a short write-up of not more than two pages, a photograph, and the number of years since diagnosis. Submissions are to be sent by October 7, 2025, through email at akeredolubetty@gmail.com or via WhatsApp on 08033331211.
Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu, herself a 28-year breast cancer survivor, said the series will amplify hope and demonstrate that life after breast cancer is possible.
The Thriving Beyond Breast Cancer Series forms part of BRECAN’s ongoing advocacy to raise awareness, support survivors, and promote early detection and treatment across Nigeria.
