***Olowo of Owo Lauds Initiative, Commends President Tinubu
Residents of Owo and Ose local government areas of Ondo State have benefitted from the Jigi Asiwaju Free Medical Outreach, a programme that provided free check-ups, eye tests, glasses and medications to thousands of people.
The programme, sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and facilitated by the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT) held on Thursday at the Mapo Hall, Owo.
Speaking during the event, GMT Director General, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, said the outreach was aimed at taking healthcare directly to the people.
Yusuf-Ogunleye also highlighted the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the last two years.
“Mr. President cannot be everywhere, but it is our duty to spread the message of what he has achieved in infrastructure, health, transport, sports and more.
“This outreach, sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, gives thousands of people access to free medical care, including check-ups, eye tests, glasses and drugs,” he said.
GMT Secretary, Hon. Rasheed Badmus, and Director of Women’s Affairs, Olamide Falana, also emphasized that Tinubu’s administration deserved support and encouragement.
Falana noted that the medical outreach was designed to meet pressing needs in communities, particularly in Owo and Ose local government areas.
“We are reaching about 1,000 people here, and we will extend this across Ondo State. President Tinubu hit the ground running from his first day in office.
“He understands Nigeria’s challenges and is providing solutions. This is why he must return in 2027 to complete his vision,” Falana said.
Former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Kola Olawoye, described the outreach as an initiative aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Eyes are one of the most important organs, and this programme brings relief across party lines. We are grateful to Minister Tunji-Ojo for making this possible.
“By 2027, when President Tinubu begins his second term, Nigerians will see even greater progress in health, education, and agriculture,” Olawoye noted.
The leadership of GMT paid a courtesy visit to the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III.
Oba Ogunoye, who is also Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Traditional Rulers, lauded the programme and commended President Tinubu’s leadership.
The monarch noted that Nigerians were already feeling the impact of reforms in the economy, security and fuel supply.
“We are all benefiting from the present government, and when the time comes, we will reward him accordingly. The economy is stabilizing, security is improving, and fuel queues have disappeared. Nigerians can see the changes,” he stated.
One of the beneficiaries of the medical programme, 68-year-old Raphael Adeboye, expressed gratitude, describing the exercise as timely and impactful for residents who could not afford medical treatment.
“Many of us had given up on treating our eye problems because of lack of money. This gesture has restored hope to us,” he said.
Other leaders of GMT that attended the programme included the State Director of Youth, Comrade Paff kolade lawal; Member of the State Advisory Council, Barrister Kola Olawoye, SAN; GMT Iyaloja, Mrs Adesida; Owo LG coordinator, Hon. Adegoroye; Alhaji Isiaka Elegberun Ibon; and Director of Medical.
The lawmaker representing Owo Constituency 2 in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. (Mrs) RennyK whitherspon, sent apology for absence at the event.
