The Ebira community in Ondo State, under the auspices of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), on Thursday endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term in office, expressing confidence in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The endorsement, made by representatives from the 18 local government areas of the state, was based on what they described as the Tinubu administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, agriculture, security and economic reforms.
The Coordinator of the GMT Ebira Wing, Hon. Hassan Ahete, said the endorsement was founded on visible achievements, courageous leadership and a clear vision for a better Nigeria.
According to him, despite inheriting enormous economic and security challenges in 2023, President Tinubu had embarked on bold reforms and major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, while expanding access to higher education through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
He also credited the administration with promoting agriculture, youth empowerment, tax reforms and improved security through increased support for security agencies.
Ahete commended the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for implementing impactful reforms and grassroots development initiatives, describing his performance as a reflection of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Calling for continuity, he urged Ebira people across Ondo State and Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
“The foundation has been laid, the projects have begun and the reforms are taking shape. We will mobilise our people to vote massively for President Tinubu and APC candidates,” he said.
The Asiwaju of Ebira in Akure Kingdom, HRH Dr. Ojo Yusuf Ozovehe, thanked the people of Ondo State for their acceptance of the Ebira community and pledged support for the President.
Also speaking, Hon. Apata Emerson said the Ebira people remained committed to progressive politics, praising both President Tinubu and Interior Minister Tunji-Ojo for what he described as impactful leadership.
Another community leader, Mr. Dauda Sule, said the administration’s road projects, student loan scheme and other development initiatives informed the community’s decision to endorse the President.
The Director-General of GMT in Ondo State, Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, said the endorsement reflected the growing support for President Tinubu among non-indigenous communities in the state.
Yusuf-Ogunleye disclosed that similar endorsements by the Igbo and Hausa communities would follow in the coming weeks, expressing confidence that the support would translate into votes in the 2027 presidential election.
He said: “These non-indigenous communities have identified with the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu because they are convinced that the President has performed creditably. Their support will certainly translate into votes as they return to mobilise their people,” he said.
Among dignitaries at the event were Chief (Mrs.) Olubunmi Ademosu, member of the GMT Advisory Council; Mr. Ojo Oyewamide, GMT Director of Media; and Hon. Paff Lawal Kolade, GMT Director of Youth Affairs.
Others were Mr. Sanusi Usman, President of the Ebira Youth Association, Ondo and Ekiti States; Mrs. Hafsat Lamidi, Ebira Community Woman Leader; Mallam Okatahi Aliu; Sheikh Abubakar Idris; and Alhaja Adebayo Aliu, among others.
