We Believe in the Leadership of Idajo – Ondo NURTW

A concerned group within the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in Ondo State “Awaye Ni ti wa” says the Union remains strong and willing to meet commuters needs.

The group in a statement made available to newsmen in Akure, Ondo State capital maintained that it remains committed to the efforts of major stakeholders at stabilizing the NURTW in the state after suffering setbacks from the leadership crisis that rocked its boat.

The Coordinator of the “Awaye Ni Ti Wa” group, Comrade Ojo Murewa in the statement noted that the group believe in the leadership of Comrade Jacob Adebo Idajo as resolved by the union’s stakeholders.

The group dissociated Ondo State from intervening in the NURTW process of returning its leadership in the overall interest of all transport workers.

The group also cautioned some of NURTW members who went about spreading unwarranted rumour of Ondo State Government planned imposition of leadership on the union.

The group maintained that the state government had not involved in the process of selecting leadership for the union but has been the intervention of the National leadership and stakeholders.

The group insisted on running a NURTW with a different and not has been viewed in some quarters as a group of touts and political thugs.

The group however cautioned NURTW members from fomenting trouble that could lead to suspension or banning of its activities in Ondo State.
