The Acting Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Prof. Olugbenga Ige has urged staff and graduates of Accounting Department at the Institution to take advantage of the Mutual Cooperation Agreement with Tertiary Institutions (MCATI) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
The agreement gives graduates of accounting generous exemptions in ICANs professional examinations.
He also urged them to jump at the Institutes offer to sponsor members undertaking Doctorate and higher degrees in Accounting in recognized institutions at home and abroad to the tune of N1m and N500, 000, respectively.
Prof. Ige stated these while welcoming the 56th President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Dame Onome Adewusi who paid him a courtesy visit in Akungba on Friday, 30th October, 2020.
He promised that the University would continue to support Accountants and to give Chartered accountants their pride of place in the Institution in appreciation of the onerous roles they play in the scheme of things.
Speaking earlier, the ICAN President, Dame Onome Adewusi had commended the University for promoting scholarship and for the rapid infrastructural development in the Institution despite its relatively young age.
The ICAN boss said, We are happy to see the infrastructural development in the University despite its young age. More importantly, the drive towards promotion of scholarship in this University is highly commendable.
Since 2007, ICAN and AAUA have collaborated under the ICAN accreditation programme in the development of competent accountants for the Nigerian economy. It is also our delight to note that this University has sustained the rich relationship with ICAN in the last 13 years.
The ICAN president urged members of the Institute and graduates of Accounting in the University to take advantage of the Mutual Cooperation Agreement with Tertiary Institutions (MCATI) of ICAN as well as that of the research and scholarship grants for those seeking higher degrees in the profession.
She further informed that ICAN took it upon itself to deploy its technical capacity in ensuring that the accounting education curricula of all levels of education in the country meets international standards.
Present at the visit were officers of the University including the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francis Gbore; Bursar, Mrs Olubunmi Ologun, FCA; other top officers and members of ICAN in the Institution.
