Ondo Seaport: Akeredolu’s reelection best option for our future —Reps member Tunji-Ojo

Ahead of October 10 governorship election in ondo state, the federal lawmaker representing Akoko Northeast/Northwest federal constituency of Ondo state, Hon Olunbunmi Tunji-Ojo at the weekend gave several reasons why Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu should be supported for another term in office to secure economic future for the state.

The lawmaker declared that reelection of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the APC will lead to approval and execution of sea port in the state that will give the state economic emancipation.

Tunji-Ojo popularly known as ‘BTO’, pointed out that such sea port project would secure economic and brighter future for the generation yet unborn in the state.

In a chat with newsmen in Akure, the state capital at the weekend, the House of Reps member said his constituents would not forget huge efforts of the Akeredolu’s administration in constructing Oke Alabojuto and ongoing dualization of Ikare-Akoko township road.

The lawmaker explained that the October 10 2020 governorship election is not all about just reelecting Akeredolu but to make the approval of such project by the federal government to be smooth.

He acknowledged the efforts of late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo in constructing Apapa seaport in Lagos, hence the need for Ondo state people to back Akeredolu for similar future securing project.

He said Ondo state people must be resolute to stay with the APC government to actualise the sea port project which is capable of turning to the state to another Lagos state in term of revenue.

Tunji-Ojo who expressed deep concern over dwindling monthly allocation from the federation account to state governments, however assured that the sea port if operational in ondo state, it would make the state government to generate enough funds to meet its obligations including salaries payment.

He commended unprecedented achievements of Governor Akeredolu in the area of infrastructural development.

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on NDDC, said Akeredolu had done immensely well in putting the state on the path to sustainable development, as all problems could not be solved overnight.

Tunji-Ojo also explained that before the Akeredolu-led administration came on board, there were some basic problems in the Southern Senatorial district of the state, most of which has been resolved as a result of the commitment and drive of the incumbent Governor of Ondo State.

He added that the Ondo State-owned Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa, was neglected before the assumption of the Akeredolu’s administration, but the governor had turned the institution’s fortune around.

The Lawmaker said that the Southern Senatorial district of the state has huge security challenge before the inception of the present Government which through the Amnesty programme at the State level has been resolved.

He also enjoined the people of Ondo State to ensure the continuity of the Akeredolu led administration in the State as it is capable of taking the state to higher level.
