Ondo 2020: Why my kinsman Jegede will fail again —Alasoadura

The Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, yesterday declared that his Akure kinsman and candidate of the PDP in the October 10 governorship election, Eyitayo Jegede is merely wasting his time as Akure people will be backing Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s Reelection; SUNSHINETRUTH can report.

The Minister, a native of Iju in Akure North Local Government Area(LGAs) of the state, declared, amidst applause from his kinsmen, that the candidate of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, is merely wasting his time, boasting that the incumbent Governor and the Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, is the candidate to beat in Akure North and South LGAs.

Jegede, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, (SAN), hails from Akure South.

Addressing a crowd of party supporters in Ogbese and Oba Ile in Akure North on Saturday, Alasoadura said Akeredolu is the prefered candidate of Akure people.

The Minister added that it is not yet the time of Akure ethnic nationality to produce the Governor of Ondo State, stressing that the Northern Senatorial District where Akeredolu hails from should be allowed to complete its two terms of eight years.

“I am an Akure man and I can say very confidently the position of Akure people. Our candidate in Akure Kingdom is Akeredolu because we love justice and equity.

“Akeredolu is from the (Ondo) North. Akure is from the Central. The (Ondo) Central just completed eight years, the North should be allowed to complete their eight years. When next the position comes back to the Central, Akure will take the spot because Mimiko has used the slot of Ondo Kingdom.

“Besides, my brother, Jegede is merely wasting his time. We shall defeat him in the two Local Government in a level playing ground. Akeredolu is the man to beat in the two Local Governments in Akure kingdom.” Alasoadura said.

The Minister appealed to the traditional rulers and chiefs in Akure Kingdom to mobilise their people to vote en masse for Akeredolu, saying that would enable the governor to fulfill all their heart desires in his second term in office

Meanwhile, a group of non-indigenes in Oba-Ile in Akure North local government has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Akeredolu led administration.

The group which comprises Ebira, Igbo, Igala, Hausa among others said the present government deserves continuity owing to its numerous achievements in all sectors, particularly in infrastructural Development and industrialisation.

Akeredolu, however, assured the people that his administration would perform wonders if re-elected.

Ondo State Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming October 10, gubernatorial poll, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has urged the people of the state to support continuity of his administration.

Governor Akeredolu who said the state can not afford to experiment with a new comer at the moment, stressed that there is gain in continuity.

The Governor spoke on Saturday at the local government campaign rally of the APC held at Igbara-Oke in Ifedore local government area.

He said consistency and continuity would guarantee completion of ongoing projects and the realization of the deep sea port which his administration is pursuing vigorously.

The Governor noted that he has fulfilled his campaign promises to the people of Ifedore local government, adding that he is prepared to do more.

Governor Akeredolu said his administration has constructed various roads in the local government including the Igbara-Oke road, Ibuji road, Isarun road, Ero and Ijare roads among others.

He said:”Consistency is key. You don’t experiment with governance. Let our performance be the judge. We have worked but we can do more. If there has been consistency and the late Agagu spent eight years, we would have had a port by now. Mimiko got there and abandoned it for eight years.”

Earlier at the palace of the Olowa of Igbara-Oke, Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede , the monarch described Governor Akeredolu as a truthful leader who doesn’t promise and fail.

He said the Akeredolu administration has recorded major strides across the communities in Ifedore local government.

The Olowa who spoke on behalf of all the traditional rulers in the local government, said all the monarchs are with the APC and Governor Akeredolu.

He said they have decided to talk to their people to vote for the Governor for a second term in office because of the impact of the Akeredolu administration in the local government.

Describing the Governor’s campaign tour to the local government as a familiarization visit, the monarch said Governor Akeredolu did not need to campaign in Ifedore local government.

The minister of State of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, the running mate to the Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Chairman of the party in the state, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, Ambassador Sola Iji, Tunji Abayomi Esq, members of the house of Assembly and other notable leaders joined the campaign train of the Governor.
