The Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, has described the just-concluded 50th anniversary of the state’s creation as all-inclusive, impactful, and historic.
In a post-anniversary statement issued in his capacity as Chairman of the Media Committee of the Golden Jubilee celebration, Ajanaku said the success of the event reflected the leadership style of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, which he described as people-centred, firm, and inclusive.
According to the commissioner, the recognition accorded to past leaders of the state—both living and deceased—through the conferment of lifetime achievement awards demonstrated the governor’s respect for history and his commitment to honouring those who contributed to the growth of Ondo State.
Ajanaku noted that the anniversary celebration had a lasting impact on many families, particularly young adults who participated in the essay competitions and emerged as winners of plots of land and cash prizes. He said the initiative would open a new and transformative chapter in the lives of the beneficiaries.
He further highlighted the current administration’s efforts to reposition Ondo State from a civil-service-dominated economy to an industrialised one, pointing to several major projects already in the pipeline.
The commissioner listed these projects to include the Olokola Free Trade Zone, the Deep Sea Port—recently revalidated by the Federal Government—and a proposed refinery, noting that they are expected to significantly boost the state’s economic profile.
Ajanaku expressed confidence that the projects would provide a solid development framework for the next 50 years, describing them as critical to the emergence of a new Ondo State.
He thanked God for the successful and hitch-free celebration and appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for the confidence reposed in the anniversary planning committee, as well as for the support provided throughout the planning and execution stages.
The commissioner also commended members of the planning committee, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, for their cooperation and synergy, which he said ensured the successful delivery of all activities lined up for the Golden Jubilee celebration.
