The flag off of the reelection campaign of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu today was a carnival like when national leadership of the APC and their state governors converged on Akure township stadium to address a mammoth crowd of the party’s supporters from across the 18 local government areas of Ondo state.
Eleven APC governors, ministers, members of the National Assembly, leaders of the APC and other dignitaries attended the rally.
The Akure sports stadium, venue of the event, was filled to the brim as the people of the state trooped out enmass to attend the rally despite the downpour.
The Governors who attended the event include the Chairman, APC National Caretaker Committe, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State; Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State and Chairman, APC Governor’s Forum as well as Chairman Ondo APC National Campaign Council and Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwoolu.
Others are Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum Kwara state Governor, AbdulRahman AdulRasak, Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, Governor of Ogun State Prince Dapo Abiodun, Sani Bello of Niger State, and the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief David Onoja.
The Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Ameachi, Minister of state for Petroleum, Timipre Silva; Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura and other notable leaders were also at the event.
Speaking at the venue, the APC leaders and governors including Mai Mala Buni, said Akeredolu had made the party’s job on the October 10 election easier with his administration’s Progressive performance in critical sectors.
The APC Caretaker Chairman also affirmed that the defection of bigwigs like a Business mogul, Chief Jimoh Ibrahim ad well as a former Commissioner for, Special duties, Culture and tourism, Femi Adekanmbi, and many others from the opposition parties would strengthen the APC to win the polls convincingly.
He noted that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) had endorsed Akeredolu as he earlier presented the flag of the party to the governor in Abuja.
He said, “Akeredolu has eased out jobs because he had delivered. The people of Ondo should not make the mistake of making the wrong choice. The APC is united, stronger, and will win the election.”
Other speakers such as Fayemi, Sanwo-Olu and Bagudu, commended Akeredolu for his giant strides in Ondo state, urging the people of the state to still sustain their support for the reelection of the governor.
In a remark, Governor Akeredolu appealed to the people to be vigilant on the day of election and protect their votes from election riggers.
