Labour 8-days ultimatum: Our next line of action —Ondo Govt

Following the ultimatum giving to the Ondo State government by the organised labour, the State Head of Service, Mr Dare Aragbaiye has expressed the readiness of government to negotiate with the workers through the labour leader on Monday November 23, 2020.
The state government had last Thursday received a letter from labour leaders requesting a meeting on contentious issues on workers salaries and accumulated deductions.
The organized Labour in Ondo state gave the government till Friday this week, an 8-day ultimatum to settle workers’ accumulated salaries and deductions or face industrial action.
Confirming the proposed meeting with newsmen in Akure, the State Head of Service, Mr Dare Aragbaiye said the government is ready to listen to the grievances of the workforce tomorrow.
In the letter to Government, the Labour movement including the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), called on government to urgently convene a meeting to discuss how to defray the outstanding salaries and allowances.
The chairman Joint Negotiating Council, JNC Niyi fabunmi said the state government failed to honour previous agreements reached over their demands on salaries and deductions.
Fabunmi added that the organized labour has a duty to protect the interest of civil servants.
Responding the Head of Service, Mr Dare Aragbaiye assured organized labor of government’s readiness to interact with them on Monday and also find a lasting solution to the issues raised.
