As part of quest to ensure peace and security of lives and properties in Ondo state, over 1,000 youths are to be empowered by Klick Konnect Networks, an NGO based in Akure Ondo State capital, even as the firm has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Peace Corps of Nigeria to achieve the goal.
The MoU which will accommodate over one thousand youths in the state under peace corps Nigeria to work as traffic control officers, and will also be posted to banks, schools and religion gathering.
Speaking after the signing, the Chief Executive Officer of Klick Konnect, chief Alexander Oluremi Ajipe stated that one of the mandate of his organization is primarily to promote peace and help security agencies in the state to achieve their goals.
He said that his organization is ready to partner with the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) and other relevant bodies that will promote peace, security and environmental protection in the state.
Ajipe said peaceful existence can not only be guaranteed by the government alone but through concerted efforts of various peace-loving organisations and individuals who appreciate and value the essence of peace.
“We will partner with you to send your men to schools, government offices, banks, religious gathering and also to help in controlling traffic on our roads” .
“We want to do this to engage our youths who don’t have job. It is better to do something than sleeping at home. We have started discussions with other relevant agencies so that they can take them” .
“This, we believe will even help many of the organizations especially schools and banks due to the COVID-19 social distancing rules. They will be of good assistance to schools in other to control their students to obey the social distancing rules”. Ajipe said.
Responding, Ondo state commandant of Peace Corps Mr Poroye Kayode described the signing as a necessary response to a lot of concerns by the association’s members, stressing that the MoU will strengthen his members to work more to achieve its goals.
