The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has called for a multi-level policing system, saying it is the best way to take the country out of the security challenges it is facing in recent times.
The governor also emphasized that state police had become more necessary than ever.
Akeredolu stated this at the state Christian service in commemoration of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, held at St. Benedict Military Catholic Church, Owena Cantonment of the Nigerian Army, Ondo Road, Akure, on Sunday, January 10, 2021.
The governor also said there was a need for more provision of modern equipment for the Nigerian military to help in their fight against insurgents and other criminalities in the country.
He opined that “better ammunition and welfare of the security agencies must continue to be at the forefront, to better encourage and support the officers in their fight against criminalities.”
Commending the support and commitment of the military in securing the state and confronting kidnappers and other criminal elements who are troubling the peace of the state, the governor said the Nigerian military counter-terrorism efforts aimed at ridding the country and the state of criminal elements was laudable.
