Ex- Permanent Secretary in Ondo State, Adegoke Dies at 84

A Seasoned public administrator and former Permanent Secretary in Ondo State, Chief Emmanuel Ajike Adesina Adegoke has died at the age of 84.

His death was announced in a statement by Dr Aderonke Samuel on behalf of the family in Akure.

Chief Adegoke died on the 25th of July, 2022 in Akure, Ondo State capital.

“With a heavy heart and submission to the will of God we announce the glorious exit of our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend, Engr. Chief Emmanuel Ajike Adesina Adegoke, the Baba Ijo of the Cathedral Church of St David, Ijomu Akure.

Born 14th July, 1938, he was the first child and indeed first son of Chief and Mrs James Adegoke of Oke Lisa.” Dr Samuel said

Engr Chief EA Adegoke attended the prestigious King’s College in Lagos State before going to the United Kingdom where he studied and trained to become a Civil Engineer.

He was a dedicated Civil Engineer who loved engineering with a passion. He came back to Nigeria in 1970 to work as a Civil Engineer in the Old Western Region in various roles. 

In 1976, he moved to the newly created Ondo State as one of the pioneer Engineers and became the Chief Civil Engineer at the Ministry of Works from 1979 to 1987. 

He subsequently became the Permanent Secretary of Ondo State Water Corporation in 1987 and retired in 1991 as the Director General of Ondo State Water Corporation.

Engr. Chief EA Adegoke was the Baba Ijo of the Cathedral Church of St David Ijomu. He loved God and gave generously, impacting many lives. 

He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.

Burial arrangements will be announced by the family later.
