A very distinguished Media Practitioner and Communication Strategist, Dr Felix Ale has stressed the need for Nigeria to look towards science and technology to develop the country, stating that any country that seeks development must pay adequate attention to the twin catalysts of national development.
Dr Ale, a household name in the field of Journalism, Corporate Communications as well as Space Science and Technology development spoke in a message to mark his birthday.
He encouraged State governors to establish ministries of science and technology in their various states to accelerate development.
While harping on the importance of Science and techynology, Dr Ale particularly called on Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN to bifurcate the ministry of Education, Science and techynology and appoint Experts to oversee the affairs of the ministry of science and technology.
Dr Ale emphasised that this unique steps would go a long way in consolidating the noble achievements of Akeredolu led administration in Ondo State, particularly during his second term tenure.
“Science and technology are capable of playing a vitally important role in ensuring national security and social stability as well as to sustain the growth of national economy and to improve its efficiency.
For any successful economy, particularly in today’s quest for knowledge based economies, science and technology are the basic requisites and the best way to go.
If nations do not implement or take advantage of strategic roles of science and technology, then the chances of achieving appreciable development becomes minimal and futile.
Science and Technology is associated in all means with modernity and it is an essential tool for rapid development.
Modernization in every aspect of life is the greatest example of the implementation of science and technology in every nation.
With the introduction of modern gadgets in every walk of life, life has become simple and this is possible only because of full implementation and application of science and technology. Without having modern equipment in all sectors, be it in medicines, infrastructure, aviation, electricity, information technology or any other field, the advancement and benefits that we are witnessing today would not have been possible.
Any nation that is not able to align itself with the modern day reality of Science, technology and innovation would never be able to guarantee its future survival and may have to solely depend on other nations for daily basic requirements. Such is the influence of science and technology for the development of a nation.” He said
