…..CONDEMNED ATTACK ON OYETOLA.
The convener of IBI GIGA AMBASSADORS Chief Alex Ajipe has commended the governor of Ondo state Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu for timely constitution panel of inquiry to investigate and receive complaints from members of the public on illegal detention, extortion and brutality by the disbanded SARS officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
Ajipe also commended the youth for coming out to fight for the right of the people at this critical time which had yield positive results.
Chief Ajipe in a press statement by his media aide, Solomon Adewoye, said the Governor’s action should douse the tension and the youths should back down on their protest.
He noted that the action of the government shows that the governor is a man of the people and also share in the “struggles of our youth to put an end to killing by this dreaded police unit”.
He noted that the struggles of the youths had brought an end to the dreaded police unit known as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS and they must be commended .
He however appealed to the youth to suspend the #EndSARS protests and embrace dialogue for the resolution of their grievances.
Ajipe asked the protesters to be part of the process of implementing the reforms they clamoured for in the police, adding that continuous blocking of roads, government and private offices would slow down the procedure of implementing their demands.
Chief Ajipe who is the CEO of Klick Connect Networks however condemned the attack on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State by those he described as evil paid agents who wanted to take his life under the pretence of #EndSARS protest.
“Governor Oyetola is a peace loving governor with youth oriented program and has performed excellently well in the area of youth program”.
“He also identify with the protesters and That was why he put on #EndSARS cap in order to show his displeasure on how SARS men are maltreating Nigerian Youths but these paid agents mingled with good and visionary youths in order to assassinate Governor Oyetola but they failed”
“I also had my fair share of the #EndSARS protest in Akure on Monday , though peaceful, but I have to take bike to the state owned Television for a live interview program when the protesters blocked all the major roads in the capital city”. he said
According to him, While it is okay and constitutionally alright to protest, it must be in a peaceful manner as being done across the country. He pleaded with the youth not to allowed hoodlums to hijack the protest.
He assured the youths of his unalloyed support in any area that will make them productive for themselves, families, Nigeria and at large but should shunned violence and hooliganism that can dent the image of the country.
#EndSars: GOV. AKEREDOLU INAUGURATES JUDICIAL PANEL OF INQUIRY IN ONDO
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has inaugurated a Judicial Panel of Inquiry to look into the allegation of illegal activities of the officers of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in the state.
Members of the Panel include; Rtd Judge, Ex-Police Commissioner, Activists, #EndSars Advocate and others.
Hon. Justice Salisu Adesola Sidiq (Rtd) Rtd. High Court Judge is the Chairman while Mr. Lanre Amuda is the Secretary of the Panel.
Other members of the Panel include; Mrs. Banke Oloba, Ifeanyi Odili , Mr. Samuel Adetuyi, Mr. Oluyemi Fasipe, Mr. Leo Ologun and Sunday Oyewole.
The Panel, according to the Governor, is expected to receive and investigate complaints of police brutality or related extra-judicial killings by the police in the State and also evaluate evidence and draw conclusions on validity of complains.
Governor Akeredolu stressed that the Panel is to also recommend compensation and other remedial measures, and carry out any other assignment that may be deemed necessary.
He advised the #Endsars campaigners on the street to be wary of the incursion of thugs and other elements who are bent on hijacking the protest to unleash violence on the people and cause unrest.
Governor Akeredolu warned that the people must be vigilant and resist all temptations to reduce serious issues of national importance to prebendal politics.
While stating that the Panel has six months to submit its report, Governor Akeredolu expressed hope that the findings of the panel will assist the State to find lasting solutions to the perennial crises of confidence between the Police and the citizenry.
He admonished parents, guardians and all responsible citizens to take charge and advise their children to desist from perpetrating acts which may deepen the precarious situation.
Governor Akeredolu said”The Government, under our leadership, will not permit any person or a group of persons to compound the already tense situation under any nebulous guise.“
“The membership of the panel reflects the determination of the Government to tackle the problem comprehensively. The careful selection of activists and security experts of proven integrity underscores the seriousness of the Government.
“We enjoin members who have useful information on the untoward activities of the disbanded security outfit SARS in particular and other security apparatus to avail themselves of this opportunity and submit memoranda to the panel.
“We should also encourage anyone who has had unpleasant encounters with officers and men of the defunct unit to file complaints before the Panel.
Speaking on behalf of members of Panel, the chairman, Hon. Justice Salisu Adesola Sidiq (Rtd) assured that members of the Panel will do more than their ability.
He said the constitution of the panel was a clarion call to serve and ensure that the society is better, saying the Panel will discharge its duty in fairness and commitment to ensure that peace is returned to the land.
