Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Olusola Oke, has paid glowing tribute to the late former Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, describing him as a courageous leader whose ideals and contributions to nation-building continue to inspire Nigerians.
In a statement commemorating Akeredolu’s posthumous 70th birthday anniversary, Oke said the late governor’s legacy transcends his years on earth, noting that his unwavering commitment to justice, good governance and true federalism remains relevant to Nigeria’s democratic development.
The legal luminary, who described Akeredolu as a dear friend, brother, professional colleague and political ally, recalled the memorable moments they shared in the legal profession and in the collective quest for a better Ondo State and Nigeria.
According to him, Akeredolu left behind enduring footprints of brilliance, candour, courage and a remarkable sense of humour, qualities he said are greatly needed in today’s society.
Oke also praised the late governor’s vocal advocacy for fiscal federalism, state policing, devolution of powers and other constitutional reforms, saying his consistent stance on these issues demonstrated his deep commitment to building a stronger and more equitable Nigeria.
He further commended Akeredolu’s bold leadership in defending the people of Ondo State against security threats during his tenure as governor, describing his actions as landmark achievements that should serve as models for future leaders.
“As we commemorate his 70th posthumous birthday, we are comforted by the enduring virtues he exemplified during his lifetime. His sacrifices, impactful leadership and unwavering principles will continue to inspire meaningful transformation and purposeful service,” Oke said.
He wished the late governor a happy posthumous platinum birthday anniversary and prayed that his soul continues to rest in the bosom of the Lord Jesus Christ.
