AAUA Secures Full Accreditation for 20 Programmes
Adekunle Ajasin University has recorded a major academic milestone following the award of full accreditation status to 20 of its programmes by the National Universities Commission.
The approval, conveyed in a letter signed by the NUC Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Commission’s Executive Secretary, covers programmes across six faculties, underscoring the institution’s expanding academic profile and adherence to national standards.
A breakdown of the accredited programmes shows that in the Faculty of Administration and Management, Accounting, Banking and Finance, and Public Administration received full accreditation.
In the Faculty of Arts, Linguistics and Yoruba, Philosophy, and Yoruba Language were approved, while the Faculty of Education recorded the highest number with nine programmes.
These include Adult Education, Educational Management, Education Biology, Education Mathematics, Education Physics, Education Religious Studies, Health Education, Integrated Science, and Social Studies.
The Faculty of Law also secured full accreditation for its Law programme.
Similarly, Biochemistry and Geology in the Faculty of Science were granted full status, while Geography and Planning Sciences, alongside Psychology, were accredited in the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Olugbenga Ige, commended the NUC for maintaining rigorous quality assurance standards in the nation’s university system.
In a statement, the Deputy Registrar, Information, Protocol and Public Relations Unit/Head, Radio AAUA 90.3FM, Victor A. Akinpelumi, described the accreditation as “a clear validation of the university’s commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement.”
He added that the outcome reflects “the dedication, resilience, and professionalism of both academic and non-academic staff who have worked tirelessly to uphold the institution’s standards.”
The NUC conducts periodic accreditation of academic programmes in Nigerian universities to ensure compliance with minimum academic standards. The exercise that led to the latest approvals at AAUA was conducted between October and December 2025.
