FUTA Suspends Admission into MBBS Programme

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has announced the suspension of admission into its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The decision, which affects both Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry candidates, was conveyed in an official notice issued by the university’s Registrar, Mr. C. O. Adeleye, on February 3, 2026.

According to the statement, FUTA will not admit any students into the MBBS programme for the affected academic session.

Candidates who have already selected the MBBS programme at FUTA during the ongoing UTME registration conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been advised to immediately seek alternative institutions offering the programme.

The university did not state the reasons for the suspension in the notice.

Prospective candidates are therefore urged to take timely steps to avoid losing admission opportunities for the 2026/2027 academic session.
