A large number of executive members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) who served during the administration of the late Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, have formally aligned with the Grassroots Mobilisation for Tinubu (GMT) political structure.
The group paid a courtesy and appreciation visit to the Director-General of GMT, Hon. Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, at his country home in Oba-Ile, Ondo State.
During the visit, the former NURTW executives expressed gratitude to the GMT leadership and pledged their collective loyalty and support to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo political movement, describing it as a platform committed to continuity, grassroots mobilisation and inclusive governance.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, some of the leaders said their decision to join GMT was informed by their confidence in the vision and leadership style of Tunji-Ojo and Yusuf-Ogunleye, as well as their desire to contribute meaningfully to the political stability and progress of Ondo State.
In his response, the GMT Director-General, Yusuf-Ogunleye, thanked the delegation for the show of solidarity and trust, assuring them that the platform remains committed to unity, fairness, people-oriented political engagement and mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
He urged them to remain disciplined, loyal and focused on strengthening the structure at the grassroots level.
The visit was attended by former NURTW executives from various local government areas across the state, including Akoko South West, Idanre, Akure South, Ondo West, Ifedore, Akure North, Odigbo, Okitipupa and Akoko South East.
Among those present were Emidun, Coordinator from Akoko South West; Adegunsoye Adelanke (Kobu) from Idanre; Olufemi Foladun (Warri) and Falade Adedayo (Abiamo) from Akure South; Samuel Solomon, Akinwa Tunde, Oloruntimileyin Segun (Jayent), Ogunware Omotayo, Femi Oke, Akinjopo, Akindoju Taiwo, Akintimiyin Ojo (Soj), Ajibola Olalekan (Old School) and others from Idanre.
Also in attendance were Akinnagbe Kunle, Eric Akinsanmi and Adegboyega Tunde from Ondo West; Anjorin Seun and Idowu Muyiwa from Ifedore; Ibrahim Osho, Oluwadare Abraham, Ololola Michael and Okeya Samuel from Akure North; Amoda Yusuf from Odigbo; Atoba Akeem from Okitipupa; Aaron Oluwafemi from Akoko South East; and Ajibola Matthew from Akoko South West.
The meeting ended with renewed commitments by the group to work collectively with GMT towards achieving its political objectives.
