The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Professor Olugbenga Ige, has lauded the Member representing Akoko South-West/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Adegboyega Adefarati, for his unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the institution.
Professor Ige gave the commendation on Tuesday, 18th November 2025, during the official handover of a new, fully-equipped ambulance donated to the University by the federal lawmaker.
Describing the gesture as timely and impactful, the Vice Chancellor said the ambulance would greatly boost the University’s healthcare and emergency response capacity, addressing a critical need within the campus community.
“On behalf of the entire University community, I extend our profound gratitude to Honourable Adefarati for this generous donation,” Professor Ige said. “With this state-of-the-art vehicle, our staff and students can be assured of rapid and reliable emergency response. It is also worthy of note that the donor’s father, the late Chief Adebayo Adefarati, a former Governor of Ondo State, was instrumental in bringing AAUA to Akungba. Today, his son is sustaining this legacy with meaningful contributions to the University’s continued growth.”
He appealed to other prominent sons and daughters of Akoko, both at home and abroad, to emulate the gesture and support the institution’s infrastructure and development initiatives.
Handing over the ambulance, Hon. Adefarati restated his family’s enduring commitment to the University, expressing confidence that the vehicle would significantly improve medical service delivery on campus.
“This ambulance will greatly enhance emergency medical services for students and staff. It is a robust and versatile medical transport vehicle, equipped to handle a wide range of critical situations,” he said.
He disclosed that the ambulance is fitted with state-of-the-art features, including climate control, adequate ventilation, a washable bench, a comprehensive oxygen supply system, an automated stretcher, and a fully stocked medical bag.
Other advanced components include an internal communication system, alarm, siren, amplifier, and both 20VDC and 220AC electrical outlets for powering essential medical equipment.
Adefarati described AAUA as one of the institutions in Ondo State that continues to uphold and promote the legacy of his late father, Chief Adebayo Adefarati.
He commended the University’s management, staff, and students for their sustained commitment to academic excellence and institutional development.
