.***Awodeyi “Apata” Appointed to Advisory Committee
At least nine members of the Ondo State House of Assembly have formally joined the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), signalling growing momentum for the pro-Tinubu coalition in the state.
Leading the group is the immediate past Deputy Speaker and member representing Ilaje Constituency I, Hon. Abayomi Akinruntan.
Other lawmakers include the Deputy Majority Leader and representative of Idanre Constituency, Hon. (Princess) Ogunlowo Oluwatosin Ajirotu; Hon. Afe Felix (Akoko North-West II); Hon. Ifabiyi Samuel Olatunde (Odigbo Constituency I); Hon. Akinsunroju Akindolani Nelson (Ile Oluji/Oke-Igbo); Hon. Bolaji Fatai Atere (Akoko North-West I); Hon. Oluwatoyin Victor Japhet (Akoko North-East); Hon. Kolawole Michael Ologede (Akure North); and Hon. (Mrs.) Morenike Witherspoon (Owo Constituency II).
The Director-General of GMT in Ondo State, Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, made the announcement during a media briefing in Akure on Wednesday, following a closed-door meeting with the lawmakers.
He disclosed that the legislators have been fully integrated into both the State Advisory Committee and the State Executive Committee of GMT. He further directed local government coordinators to begin working closely with the lawmakers to ensure seamless grassroots alignment.
Yusuf-Ogunleye also announced the appointment of Dr. Akin Awodeyi Apata as a member of the GMT State Advisory Committee and Engr. Sogo Ajikiola as the new coordinator for Ifedore Local Government Area.
“We are expecting a visit from the National Executive Committee of GMT to Ondo State very soon,” he said. “During the visit, national officers will meet with the State Advisory and Executive Committees, the newly inducted lawmakers, and formally inaugurate the GMT state office.”
He urged more lawmakers and political officeholders to align with GMT, highlighting the importance of strengthening grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
