Philanthropist and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Samuel Ajayi, has called on Muslim faithful to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and remain committed to fulfilling promises.
Ajayi, an Ijare-born entrepreneur, emphasized the importance of preaching tolerance and perseverance, describing them as key prerequisites for societal development and national progress.
In a statement issued by his media team and made available to newsmen in Akure to felicitate Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, Ajayi urged the privileged to extend a hand of kindness to the less fortunate, not just during the festivities but beyond.
He stated, “It is pertinent for us to see beyond the festivities and reflect deeply on the lessons of Eid, particularly the story of Prophet Ibrahim who made a vow to sacrifice his only son. Allah, in His mercy, replaced the obedient son with a ram.”
“We must all be committed to fulfilling our promises—whether to individuals, communities, or even to our Creator,” he added.
Ajayi highlighted that Eid-el-Kabir underscores the importance of unity and leadership within the family structure, as demonstrated by the household of Prophet Ibrahim, where his wife and son supported his leadership.
“Many of the societal challenges we face today—moral decay and endemic corruption—can be traced to the breakdown of the family unit, which is the foundation of a larger community,” he said.
“As we mark another Eid, it is essential that we put God first in our daily endeavors. We must be willing to step out of our comfort zones and make the necessary sacrifices to achieve higher ideals and lasting accomplishments,” the APC chieftain stated.
Ajayi further urged Muslims and all Nigerians to imbibe the values of selflessness, perseverance, patience, and sacrifice, for the celebration to hold true meaning in their lives and the life of the nation.
He concluded by encouraging those who can afford to slaughter rams, camels, goats, cows, and other animals to share generously with extended family, neighbors, colleagues, and especially the poor, needy, and other vulnerable members of society.
