High Chief Gbemisayo Oluwatimilehin, the Elemo of Obaile has debunked widespread rumours claiming that the Oloba of Obaile, Oba Joseph Oluwadare Agunbiade has passed away, describing them as false, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary panic within the community.
In an exclusive interview on Friday, Chief Elemo, who serves as the traditional prime minister of the ancient town, firmly dismissed the speculations, assuring indigenes and well-wishers that the monarch is alive and in stable condition.
“There is no truth to the rumour making rounds about the demise of our royal father,” he stated. “The Oloba is alive, well, and continues to discharge his traditional responsibilities in accordance with the customs of our land.”
Chief Elemo, visibly displeased by the rumour, condemned those behind it and warned against the spread of false information capable of disrupting peace and unity in Obaile.
“Our people must be wary of those who spread fake news for mischief or political reasons. This town has a rich heritage, and we will not allow rumour-mongers to sow discord among us.”
The clarification has since brought relief to residents and traditional stakeholders, many of whom had been unsettled by the circulating falsehood.
