A Professor of Industrial Sociology and Gender Relations, Emmanuel Abiodun Fayankinnu, is set to deliver the 38th Inaugural Lecture of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State.
According to a statement by the Chairman of the Ceremonies Committee and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adebisi Daramola, the lecture will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the University Multipurpose Hall, beginning at 2:00 PM, with guests expected to be seated by 1:30 PM. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, will chair the event.
Titled “Still Powerless before Male Subordinates: Contra-Power Sexual Harassment of Women Leaders in the Workplace,” the lecture will explore critical issues around gender dynamics and power relations in organizational settings.
Prof. Fayankinnu holds a B.Sc. in Sociology from the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (1995), as well as M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial, Gender, and Development Sociology from the University of Ibadan, earned in 1999 and 2008, respectively.
He began his academic career in 2001 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at AAUA and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in 2016. Over the years, he has served in various leadership roles, including Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, and Director of Institutes and Centres.
Between March 16, 2022, and March 15, 2024, Prof. Fayankinnu served as a Technical Aid Corps Volunteer at the Islamic University in Uganda. He has also been a visiting lecturer and external examiner/assessor at several institutions, both locally and internationally, including the University of Warsaw and Polish Academy of Diplomacy in Poland; Obafemi Awolowo University; Kogi State University; Federal University, Oye-Ekiti; University of Ibadan; Lagos State University; and Afe Babalola University.
Prof. Fayankinnu has participated in academic conferences across various countries, including Ghana, Liberia, South Africa, Tunisia, Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Cape Verde, Seychelles, Jamaica, Poland, Sweden, and Finland.
An accomplished scholar, he has contributed chapters to eight books and published over 40 articles in reputable journals worldwide. He has supervised eight postgraduate students, including four Ph.D. candidates.
His academic work has earned him numerous grants, awards, and fellowships, such as:

Prof. Fayankinnu is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigeria Anthropological and Sociological Association (NASA), Social Science Academy of Nigeria (SSAN), International Union of African Population Scholars, and the International Sociological Association (ISA), Madrid, Spain.
