Aiyedatiwa´s Victory at the Poll, a Validation of Ondo Electorate´s Desire -Ondo APC Chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State and spokesperson of the APC Campaign Council in Saturday´s gubernatorial election, Hon. Bar Banji Okunomo, has described the victory of the APC governorship candidate and incumbent governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa as a validation of the desire of the electorate.

Speaking during a media chat on Monday, Okunomo described Aiyedatiwa´s victory as unprecedented noting that this is the first time that a governorship candidate will win in all the 18 local government areas of the State.

According to him: Governor Aiyedatiwa´s victory was unprecedented. He did not only win in all the 18 local government areas of the state but won in almost all the 203 wards in Ondo State, thereby recording about 99 percent victory. The people of Ondo State have not only spoken through their votes but God´s pronouncement on the governor has also come to fruition”

Okunomo who commended Ondo voters for showing massive support to Governor Aiyedatiwa at the polls said: “the people of Ondo State have demonstrated their steadfastness, courage and unwavering support to the candidate of the APC and they are greatly commended for their show of love and support.

“Even before the elections and during the electioneering campaigns, the people have expressed the acceptance of Governor Aiyedatiwa´s candidacy. We commend them for validating their love for the governor by coming out in their teeming numbers to vote for him in Saturday´s election”.

Okunomo observed that Ondo people´s acceptance of Governor Aiyedatiwa was borne out of the governor´s pro-people policies in the last 10 and a half months adding that the governor´s scorecard speaks for him.
His words: “Indeed, the governor´s incredible performance in different areas of governance, ranging from education to health, agriculture, human capital development and provision of social infrastructure, were some of the indices deployed by the electorate to evaluate and vote for the APC governorship candidate”.

Okunomo posited that the election has served as an avenue to showcase the popularity and political strength of the APC candidate adding that: “as a political party, the APC in Ondo State will continue to executive projects that will bring smiles to the faces of the people”.

He expressed his confidence in the governor to continue to extend his large heatedness to all and sundry regardless of their political affiliation saying: “We are persuaded that the governor will embrace all, regardless of the political affiliation, for the sake of progress in Ondo State.

“The governor will not betray the trust reposed in him by the good people of Ondo State. He will continue to deliver on his promises of executing programmes and policies that will bring smiles to the faces of the people”, he said.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for discharging their duties as expected of them regardless of the shenanigans of the major opposition party in Saturday´s election saying “Saturday´s election was one of the most peaceful, freest and fairest governorship election in the history of Ondo State”.

Okunomo who berated the 1st runner up in Saturday´s election for his political intolerance said: “in a saner environment, the 1st runner up in Saturday´s election should have called to congratulate the winner of the election. Nevertheless, we congratulate the people of Ondo State for picking the best choice at this time”.
