A Senior Secondary School (SSS) 3 Student, of African Church Comprehensive High school, Alagbaka Akure, Ukula Solomon has been honoured as a one-day principal of the school.
This followed his brilliant performance at an essay competition organised by the school.
The essay competition, a contest among students of the Afican Church Comprehensive High school Alagbaka Akure, is one of the initiatives of the school administration to put the students on their toes.
The school had asked the participants to write an essay while they were also examined on various aspects of leadership qualities including time management, hard work, patience, and critical thinking.
Master Ukula Solomon beat all comers to emerge winner of the essay competition in their school.
The principal, Mrs Jumoke Ekpo Jide said the one-day principal programme was one of the ways employed by the school to raise future leaders.
She noted that the initiative would afford winners the opportunity not only to improve in their learning but also expose them to rudiments of public administration.
“The initiatives will improve teaching and learning with an excellent outcome. The success of these programme will be evident in the performance of students in their academic.”
“Part of our vision is to take up leadership training in the school so much that our students will be able to stand up as good leaders.”
“We want to reduce the issue of flogging students to the barest minimum or even eradicate it in the school. So, one of the ways to go about it is to promote leadership training in the school.” She said
She encouraged teachers and school administrators to always put in place strategies that would stimulate students to study more for there educational development.
Mrs Jumoke Ekpo Jide appealed to other principals to replicate the gesture so as to serve as an encouragement for students in the country
The one-day principal, Master Ukula Solomon appreciated the principal Mrs Jumoke Ekpo Jide for the honour, nothing that the initiative would further spur him on.
He described the principal as a transformational leader.
He enjoined other students to be more serious with their academics noting that education holds the key to the future.
The mother of the one-day principal, Mrs Ukula thanked the principal for the innovation noting that it would ginger students to aspire for excellence.
The senior girl of the school, Miss Joseph Mary Abisola also appreciated the principal for the innovative and creative way she is handling administration of the school.
The Ayanfe Unconventional group announced a scholarship award for the one-day principal for distinguishing himself.
Solomon also smiled home with various awards from the principal and other teachers of the school.
The one-day principal initiative was first of its kind in the African church comprenssive high school Alagbaka Akure.
The one-day principal event was witnessed by parents, staff, and the entire student bodybody.
