Youths take up new act in Akure aftermath of Protest

Aftermath of days of unrest caused by #EndSars protest, Akure, the capital of Ondo State is gradually coming alive again as some residents especially Akure youths have begun the clearing of all roadblocks, sticks and bonfires on major roads in the city.

SUNSHINETRUTH gathered that the exercise is being carried out by some Akure youths and leaders of all political parties.

The affected roads include, Adesida road, Oyemekun-Ilesa garage road, Arakale, Nepa, FUTA area, roadblock and cathedral among others.

The roads which were hitherto deserted due to the civil unrest that greeted the #endsars protest and the curfew declared by the state government were now filled with vehicles as people go about their normal businesses.

Some residents are of the opinion that normalcy would soon return to the capital city and the entire ondo state following the appeal by president muhammadu Buhari in a recent broadcast.

FLIGHTS RESUMPTION AFTER UNREST

Some domestic airlines have announced resumption of flights from Lagos as from tomorrow Saturday with the possible lifting of the curfew in the State.

In their various statements, spokeperson’s for the airlines say, arrangements are in top geared to ensure seamless facilitation of passengers from tomorrow Saturday.

One of them, Mr. Kingsley Ezemwan, assures all tickets within the period of the curfew remain valid and can be rescheduled for free.

Another spokesperson, Mr. Banji Ola had earlier announced that all its operations will be suspended but has now commenced operations to selected routes until normalcy is restored to start full scale operations across all its network.
“Once again our heart goes out to our brothers and sisters who lost lives and properties during the protest.”

If the curfew is lifted today, there is every likely hood that international operations may also commence tomorrow.

The airlines had on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 suspended all flights due to the 24 hours curfew announced by the Lagos State government.
