According to Biologists, 20% of the oxygen one breathes in is used by one’s brain to function. Increasing the amount of fresh air can provide greater clarity to the brain, promoting optimal function whilst helping one to think, focus and concentrate better.
This apparently is the current situation in Ondo State after divine providence made Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa the Executive Governor of the state on the 27th of December, 2023.
Hon. Ayedatiwa had rescued the state from the jugular of cabals who brought confusions in the Sunshine State. The nine months the cabals held sway, the state stood stlll.
Heaps of refuse became regular features in Akure the state Capital, Contractors hurriedly left sites thus making life unbearable for the citizenry, especially motorists. governance was obviously at the lowest ebb. Creating a state of uncertainty and palpable fear!
It then dawned on everyone that the state needed a fresh air. How it would come again became a struggle. Luckily, the fresh air came through Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Since assumption of office, citizens have begun to heave a sigh of relief. The first to feel it were the market women at the Erekesan market in Akure where Mr Gov dealt with the “wall of Jericho” on Oba Adesida road in Akure. The decision to remove some of the road divides elicited joy amongst the market women and other residents. The civil servant felt it too. Unprecedently, their December salary was paid on the 20th of December to enable them celebrate Christmas and the new year with their families. Their 2017 salary arrear was equally paid by Mr Governor.
Aiyedatiwa also put smile of the faces of Retirees as he launched the distribution of N1.2 billion cheques for pensioners’ gratuity in the State on the 10th January, 2024.
He said the event marked a significant stride in addressing the long-standing concerns of retired workers awaiting settlement of gratuity backlogs.
“This gesture is evidence to how much we care about both retirees and those still in the civil service.” He said
On 13th January, 2024 Aiyedatiwa ordered contractors handling road projects across the state to immediately return to sites and ensure timely completion of projects.
He also approved the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of 60km roads across the state within the next three months.
The governor promised that all ongoing infrastructural projects in the state would be completed as scheduled.
Loud applause was what followed as residents who had lost hope began to smile. The Governor even assured of timely payment for jobs done by contractors, and expressed readiness to ensure that the needed resources are made available on time to encourage them.
In the education sector, Aiyedatiwa approved ₦1 billion for the construction of a new Senate Building at the main campus of the University of Medical Sciences Ondo.
These achievements and many others recorded within sixty days in office are testaments to his commitment to taking the state to greater heights.
No doubt, In Ondo State, we are LUCKY enough to now have unpolluted areas where the air is fresh and clean. Fresh air is free to us all, so step outside and prepare to breathe deep!
